Props, Costume and Make up plan

After discussing possible options of Props/Costumes/Makeup the list above shows our ideas. Overall we chose to not have any make-up for our performers as it does not link into our concept and we found that with the band members being male and we are going for a more trendy and naturalistic look we felt it would not make sense. But with all our prop decisions they make sense to our video ideas and when thinking of the props whilst looking over our story board we can envision how the video will look and from that it is understandable. This then is the same for our costume ideas, and with everything put together it will potentially make our music video more professional.

Location Permission

Without these Location permission letters or Emails, we will not know whether we can film where we want to, as one of our main locations is in a council park and so we would need some form of notification allowing us the right to film so we are not stopped halfway through filming and/or get into trouble. This also goes for filming in someone's house and filming in one of the schools drama rooms, as we will not know if we can because of lessons and after school clubs going on, we would need to be prepared.

Record Label Research

Island Records is a record label that was founded by Chris Blackwell and Graeme Goodall in Jamaica. It was based in the United Kingdom for many years and is now owned by Universal Music Group. The label now operates as a division of The Island Def Jam Music Group in the United States (where it is now a largely rock-oriented label, much like in its heyday) and as a standalone label in the United Kingdom (also known as Island Records Group or Universal Island). Since 2007, there is also a frontline local artist and repertoire label in Australia known as Island Records Australia, run by Universal Music Australia. Island Records was also the founding company behind the highly influential Anime licensor Manga Entertainment, which has changed hands numerous times during the 1990s and early 2000s.

Domino Recording Company, generally known as Domino, is an independent record label based in London. There is also a wing of the label based in the United States, releasing Domino artists' music from the label's Brooklyn offices and run by Kris Gillespie, as well as a German division called Domino Deutschland and a French division called Domino France. In addition, Stephen Pastel presides over the subsidiary label Geographic Music, which releases more unusual British and World music. In 2011, the company announced that it was beginning a book publishing division, The Domino Press.

Ferret Music is an independent record label, founded in 1996. The label is owned in part by NORA's vocalist, Carl Severson, and in part by Philadelphian artist manager Paul Conroy, and based in West Windsor Township, New Jersey. Ferret recently started an imprint called New Weathermen Records. Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group acquired a stake in Ferret Music in August, 2006, and as a result is currently distributed by Independent Label Group. As of September 12, 2007, Ferret partnered with an uprising death metal/hardcore label out of the UK, Siege Of Amida Records, A.K.A. "S.O.A.R." S.O.A.R will retain A&R responsibilities. In February 18th, 2010 Carl Severson and his business partner at Ferret and ChannelZERO, Paul Conroy, announced their departure from the company to start Good Fight Entertainment, a management company with music and sports divisions along with a new record label.

Mighty Atom Records is a Welsh based record label. The company was formed in early 2000 by Dave Simpson and Roger Hopkins. It is known for having been one of a few independent record labels at the forefront of the UK emo scene in the early 2000s, due to its early involvement with Funeral for a Friend. It operates out of the former BBC buildings in Swansea, Wales. The label ran into financial difficulties as the years progressed and although still a functioning label, have not released any material since Brigade in 2006. The Mighty Atom recording facility 'Mighty Atom Studios' still operates out of Wales, and has recorded the majority of the bands and records released on the label.

Advertisement Research

The conventions in some music advertisement depends on the genre of the music, because if it was a pop advert there would be bright and happy colours with bold and colourful titles to make it stand out.
Equally if the advert was for a rock music video there would be a dark colours with images if the band and there album or if they promoting a concert than a image.

the advert above is an advert for an indie rock band twenty twenty and this advert shows that band members in the image, this is different contrasted to the other adverts shown above, because they show the logo in the motorhead advert and in the tenacious d advert they show there cd cover the phenix image. the advert is a good advert to show the repirsentation of an indie rock band advert to the other adverts for tenacious d and the motorhead advert. the advert is in high key lighting which make the advert stand out and eye catching and the writing used in the advert is low key and this makes the writing hard to read for some people, but the advert is easily distinctive to the other adverts because they show the band members and not the logo or the CD cover.

The advert above is different from the advert for the motorhead concert because the colours used in the background are high key and bright colours, this makes the it eye catching for the audience who walk past it or see the advert, whereas the motorhead advert used low key light and black colours which show what kind of band that they are, black shows a evil fast pace music, whereas the colours shows in the tenacious d advert shows the music is not as gothic and fast pace as the motorhead advert shows. the advert above uses a phenix image instead of there logo because it shows that the live concert they are performing there new album whereas the motorhead advert shows there logo which means that they are playing a range of there songs. the writing used is bold and bright writing and this creates the advert more noticable for the wondering eye and this will make the advert more eye catching to people that are just walking past and looking through a magazine. the writing size on this advert is better than the motorhead advert because the writing stands out more on the tenacious d advert than the motorhead advert because the motorhead advert has small writing and the tenacious d advert and large writing.

Genre Research - Conventions of Genre

Andrew Goodwin Theories 2

Three Main Types of music video style types.
- Illustration
 - Apmlification
 - Disjucture

Illustrative music videos show the literal meaning or feeling often just with the band singing or dancing.

Amplifying music videos show the lyrics where a specific narrative may be used that would not necessarily be picked up from reading the lyrics alone.

With disjuncture image do not relate to the lyrics and sometimes used by bands who are already very well established who can afford to take the risk.

Some examples of this are:

- Black Eyed peas - Boom Boom Pow is an example of disjuncture.
- B.o.B - Nothin' On You ft. Bruno Mars is an example of illustrative.
- Billionaire - Travie McCoy ft. Bruno Mars is an example of amplification.

Genre Research - CD Covers from genre

These are just some of the CD covers associated with the chosen genre of indie rock.

Franz fedinand

This CD cover is quite simple and does not really need any elaborate colours.

The Fratellis

This CD cover almost shows the kind of band they are and that most of their songs and albums are about beautiful women.

Two Door Cinema Club

This CD cover goes completely in the opposite direction and shows the possibilities of the unnatural.

Genre Music Video Analysis

The main theme of this music video is the thought behind age and memories. For example the there are moments when the man remembers soem good memories when he was younger.

This entire music video is grafted in black and white, this shows that is could be perhaps presenting an old or reoccurring narrative.
